This June, Grimm heads back to Las Vegas for the 39th time. Yes, you read that correctly, 39 TIMES! Years ago, we exhibited twice a year at M.A.G.I.C (men’s apparel guild in California) which can rack your trips up to the desert pretty fast. A few years later, the Licensing Expo made the switch from New York to Vegas and so my visits have continued.
I am a firm believer that a change is (almost) as good as a rest, so even though this is business travel, it will be packed a lot of spontaneous fun. Before that can happen, I need to plan my booth for the licensing show. Booth designs for gift show layouts are almost effortless in comparison to the torture I put myself through, over-thinking the booth for the licensing show. I am the queen of over-thinking to begin with, so planning layout of the licensing booth feels like the Olympics. In the end, it always works out and we have a great show. I have no doubt this June will be the same, but I still will wonder what art to display, which characters to show or introduce. Do I do a tease and create interest or do a full monty and leave nothing unseen. See, I told you, I over-think.
Once the booth is up and the show is successfully underway, then I can breathe, relax, enjoy sin city and the change of scenery. Las Vegas is an insane display of excess and, I think it’s hilarious that the only thing that is not super sized there is the welcome sign. Las Vegas is a city everyone needs to see, I am just not sure you need to see it 39 times.
